Pennies for Patients

James B. Morris Elementary students, families, and staff, participated in raising money for the Pennies for Patients Program through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society from April 1st-19th.  Throughout this time, students and staff brought money to put in their classroom donation boxes.  Students also participated in “Dollar Days”, in which they could bring a dollar to put in their classroom donation box, and then participate in the special theme for the day (i.e. hat day, pajama day, and Spirit Day).

The determination and kindness of students, staff, and families helped to raise over $4,650.00 for Pennies for Patients!  Morris ended up raising the second highest amount in donations for a school in the state of Iowa this year.  Mrs. Boley’s fifth grade class raised the most in donations at $315.57 and won a pizza party.  All classes met their class goal of $50 raised, and we will be celebrating with a special treat sometime this month.  Morris Elementary is so proud to help such a worthy cause that affects many people in our community.
